Medicinal uses of Waterleaf – Talinum triangulare

Waterleaf s often seen as a weed, but it plays an important role in the food of some cultures, including in Ghana. This plant is full of vitamins and essential minerals, making it a healthy addition to many dishes. Both the leaves and the roots of the waterleaf are used in traditional medicine. The extract from these parts of the plant can help treat asthma, act as a diuretic (helping the body get rid of extra water), and reduce symptoms of fever and high blood pressure. Additionally, a special mixture made from boiling the plant is used to help with painful eyes. This mixture is often put into the eyes as drops. Waterleaf is also used to help people recover after being injured, such as from falls or blows to the body.
